She prefers to keep her private life private, but Eva Mendes couldn’t help but make a fuss about her two-month-old daughter Esmeralda while chatting with The Violet Files.
The “Other Guys” stunner talked about the way she and her beau Ryan Gosling decided on their bundle of joy’s moniker.
"We were really excited about naming her. We both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame and just think it’s a beautiful name. Her middle is Amada, which was my grandmother’s name. It means 'beloved' in Spanish."
Eva also commented on motherhood- "People always told me that [it was tough]. But I’ve learned that it’s way harder to be a baby. Everything is a struggle for her. For instance, I haven’t thrown up since the ‘90s and she’s thrown up twice since we started this interview. Motherhood is cake compared to what it’s like to be a baby."
Meanwhile, given that both Eva and Ryan are big movie stars, their daughter will be growing up in the spotlight. "Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair but that’s our reality. So Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could. And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that.”
"It’s such an intimate time for the mother, too. I know that it seems all very innocuous when you’re flipping through a tabloid at the doctor’s office or see a photo of a pregnant lady online, but I find the media’s 'bump watch' obsession to be both intrusive and stressful. So I made a decision to eject myself from it completely. I was like, 'Annnnd I’m out.'"
Miley Cyrus celebrated Thanksgiving this year in the most Miley Cyrus of ways.
The 22-year old took to Instagram to post a number of selfies and inspirational quotes, expressing gratitude for all she has while, of course, cursing.
"How did I get chosen to be the one with this life?" the artist captioned a picture. "Feeling f--king thankful & it's not the season."
Cyrus didn’t get drunk or dress up as a taco for the holiday, but she did continue.
"It's going to sleep in silence nothing but these baby angels and a book after a long loud day filled with making what I love," she wrote. "Alone time but I'm not alone! I'll take a soul over a voice box forever."
Miley has another reason to be thankful these days as well. She and Patrick Schwarzenegger appear to be going very strong.
Roseanne Barr spent her Thanksgiving this year backtracking from a joke most Twitter followers believe went way too far.
Late Wednesday night, the comedian posted a photo of her swollen/ravaged face online, quipping that she just "got in a tussle w bill cosby" and "U shoyld see that mfer.”
The former sitcom star later deleted the picture and the caption and explained that the following image was due to a "chemical peel" she got to "look more sexier."
Barr, of course, was originally joking about the ongoing Bill Cosby scandal in which that legendary actor finds himself at the center of numerous sexual assault allegations.
Multiple women have come forward over the past few weeks and accused Cosby of drugging them and raping them, with most alleged cases having taken place in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Most recently, celebrities such as Michelle Hurd and Janice Dickinson have joined the long list of accusers.
Cosby has remained awkwardly mum on the issue, while his attorney has released a handful of statement that deny all allegations made against his client.
However, it's clear where Barr stands on the controversy.
“I don’t wanna get sued or have [Cosby] send anyone to beat me up, but I think it’s obvious: 13 to 1," Barr told The New York Daily News in regard to the number of women who have come forward against Cosby.
Roseanne adds that this situation “is the best and the worst thing. It’s horrible when you peel back the curtain and see what’s behind it, but it’s so great that people now have the capacity to actually look at the truth and see how it adds up."
He may have won Dancing with the Stars Season 19 due to his moves on the dance floor, Alfonso Ribeiro still feels like he's floating in the air right about now.
The actor spoke to Us Weekly not long after his DWTS victory last night, expressing utter consternation over the outcome.
"I was kind of in shock!" Ribeiro said upon hearing his name called. "I almost fell to my knees right there because it was so amazing. And what a happy moment. We so did not expect that.
"I said to [partner] Witney [Carson] right before, 'Be prepared to hear Mark [Ballas] and Sadie."
But while Sadie Robertson was impressive, Ribeiro remained a fan favorite from Day One.
"We stayed our course the entire time," the star said of why he won. "We said, 'Let's get out there, do the best we can that week, and not worry about what's coming next and what happened before. And that just kept us in the moment...We were in it, and it was a great experience."
Ribeiro also gave thanks to his partner, who helped the pair earn perfect scores throughout the season and said he's excited to go on the Dancing with the Stars tour.
But, first, a vacation with his pregnant wife is in order.
"We're going to Hawaii! We're going to lay on the beach. It's our next babymoon. We went to Hawaii last time for a babymoon and we loved it.
So much for an amicable break-up, huh?
In late September, the celebrity gossip world was thrown for a stunning loop when Jordin Sparks split from Jason Derulo.
Following rumors of infidelity on Derulo's side, the singer spoke out and simply blamed the break-up on pressure to get married, which created tension for both parties.
But Sparks came out today with "How Bout Now (Remix)" - and it sounds like the former American Idol champion has a beef that goes beyond marital pressure.
"Feeling like I have to get all of this off my chest/I know you are sitting there thinking 'What is she going to do next?'" Sparks sings on the track.
Making it very clear she's targeting Derulo, Sparks then references a neck injury he suffered in 2012.
"Remember I deleted all my other guys' numbers out my phone for ya?/Remember when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for ya? You probably don't remember half of the s--t that I did for ya."
This remix will be featured on Jordin's upcoming mixtape, "#BYEFELICIA," which is a quote from the movie Friday. It essentially means a person is leaving and you don't care and it could also be interpreted as a shot at Derulo.
Sparks and Derulo dated for three years and he has admitted to dumping her over the phone.
Earlier this week, Bette Midler called Ariana Grande a "whore."
The 68-year-old music legend offered some career advice to the 21-year-old pop princess by basically telling her to put some clothes on and stop humping furniture in her music videos.
Not surprisingly, Ari was less than thrilled with Bette's unsolicited pro tips. In fact, sources claimed Ariana is a huge fan of Bette's, and that she was shocked by the insults, as she always saw herself as following in Midler's footsteps.
Ari is known for her hot temper, and were fans braced for a full-blown War of the Divas. Sadly, when Grande finally responded to Bette's comments on Twitter last night, she took the high road in admirable fashion:
"Bette has always been a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judment," Ari tweeted.
"Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back! Always a fan no matter what my love, and I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao."
Oooooh, snap! Not only did Ari play the feminist card, she also played the seldom-used "Remember when you used to jiggle your things for the whole world?" card.
Sunday night's powerful, heart-wrenching Selena Gomez American Music Awards performance made a lot of headlines and impressed many people with its raw emotion.
Justin Bieber was not one of those people, however.
Millions of viewers watched her emote so hard, with Selena Gomez crying over Justin Bieber as she crooned through "The Heart Wants What It Wants."
The man-boy who inspired her new single was far from thrilled, believing his 20-time former girlfriend was “exploiting their relationship” with these theatrics.
“Justin thinks Selena was being so dramatic on stage and making it seem like he’s the heartbreaker in all of this,” an insider says of her AMA performance.
“At first he wanted to go to the show but then his team convinced him not to go because they said he would look like a fool,” the source goes on.
"Every time he gets too preoccupied with Selena, [he turns to religion]. He has not even reached out to Selena yet to congratulate her on her performance.”
“Instead he went to New York to listen to a popular preacher."
“Justin’s team and Pastor Carl Lenz convinced him to skip the American Music Awards and spend time at Hillsong Church in New York City instead."
"He’s been reminded to spread the gospel rather than dwell in the trappings of Hollywood,” the source said, apparently likening Selena Gomez to a "trapping."
He may be best known these days for partying, sending bodyguards after photographers and leading on Selena Gomez, but Justin Bieber has been very good at something else over the past year as well:
Making gobs of money.
Forbes has released its rundown of the highest-paid celebrities under 30 years of age, based on their earnings from June of 2013 through June of 2014.
And Bieber tops the list with a cool $80 million garnered via touring and releasing new music, while One Direction isn’t far behind and Taylor Swift sits in third place.
Only one actress is included among the Top 9, Jennifer Lawrence, unless you count Miley Cyrus as an actress still.
We're pretty sure she's just a singer at this point, however. A singer and a professional Weird Instagram Photo Publisher, that is.
Last night, a grand jury in Ferguson, MO decided not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in connection with the shooting of Michael Brown.
While most celebrity responses to the grand jury's decision consisted of outraged tweets and pleas for peace, at least one A-list recording artist took to the streets to join a Ferguson protest:
Rapper Macklemore attempted to blend in with the crowd while participating in a peaceful demonstration, but he was quickly spotted by a TMZ cameraman.
Asked why he'd decided to join the protesters, Macklemore responded, "It's not about me; it's about Michael Brown."
Hip hop artist Q-Tip also joined the demonstrations, but for the most part, celebrities who disagree with the grand jury's decision have stuck to expressing their anger through social media rants.
Now, the question remains: will other celebrities follow in Macklemore's footsteps in an effort to help keep the nation's attention focused on Ferguson, or do famous faces simply distract from the issues at hand?
While images of burning buildings and heavily-armed police officers continue to dominate the national media's coverage, the majority of Ferguson protests have been peaceful, and most violent outbursts have reportedly been quickly contained.
But while high-profile protesters may be unlikely to come to any harm, it's doubtful that we'll see a mass migration from Hollywood to this beleaguered St. Louis suburb.
The situation in Ferguson will likely remain volatile for several days to come, and it's one situation that doesn't require the star power in order to hole the nation's interest.
UPDATE: While several outlets reported that Macklemore traveled to Ferguson for the protests, witnesses now say that he simply joined a group of demonstrators in his native Seattle.
The relationship between Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger may be the most unexpected love connection of the year, but believe it or not, these two are actually making it work.
Witnesses at Miley's 22nd birthday party last week say Cyrus and Schwarzenegger were inseparable all night long. We've even heard rumors that Miley and Patrick are "falling in love" already.
However, initial reports claimed that Patrick's mother, Maria Shriver, was "horrified" by his relationship with Miley and was doing everything in her power to put a stop to it.
Now, the former First Lady of California has apparently done a complete 180 and welcomed Miley into the family.
So what changed? Well, according to insiders, Patrick was able to open his mother's eyes to the reasons he fell for Miley - she's funny; she's spontaneous...and she's nothing like Taylor Swift:
You see, back in 2012, Patrick's cousin Conor Kennedy dated Taylor briefly. This was back when Swifty was actually a psycho girlfriend and didn't just play one in her music videos.
Taylor went full-blown Stage 5 Clinger on Conor, even buying a house next to his family's home in Martha's Vineyard.
The relationship didn't work out, because - Surprise! - not every 18-year-old dude is looking to get married, and Conor reportedly had a very difficult time removing Taylor from his life.
So perhaps it's not surprising that that situation came to Maria's mind when her own son began dating a different A-list pop star:
"Maria was terrified it would be another nightmare like the Taylor situation," an insider tells Radar Online. "Taylor was their biggest fear. They all thought it was going to turn out like that."
However, after seeing the two of them together on several occasions, Maria has apparently realized that Miley is more likely to get psychotically attached to a bong than to a boy.
These days, Miley and Patrick are making no effort to hide their relationship, and sources say the relationship is moving very fast.
Last week, Ariana Grande released the video for "Love Me Harder," and the Internet responded with a collective "ick."
Sure, Ariana looks good, and at 21, she's free to express herself however she sees fit.
But the fact remains that between her high-pitched voice, her fondness for furry cat ears, and the fact that she looks like the digits in her age should be reversed, there's something uncomfortable about the sight of Ari getting intimate with various pieces of furniture.
Fortunately, Bette Midler never shies away from speaking truth to divas.
"It's terrible!" Midler said when asked about the video in a recent interview. "It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, slithering around on a couch, looking so ridiculous."
"Sex sells. Sex has always sold, [but] you don't have to make a whore of yourself to get ahead...I don't know where you're gonna go from all that sex in your twenties. I don't know how you sustain it."
This isn't the first time that Ariana's overt sexuality has drawn criticism from other celebs. Back in September, Mayim Bialik complained about Grande's skimpy attire in a lengthy blog post.
Of course, it's also not the first time that Ms. Midler has offered up some harsh harsh words for a new generation of starlets.
Bette called Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan "sluts" way back in 2006 and she's been tossing in her two cents ever since.
Does she sometimes go too far? Sure, but considering most of the women she's talking about spend their days being told how great they are, a little bit of overstatement might be necessary when expressing an opposing view.
Over the weekend, Miley Cyrus celebrated her birthday with Patrick Schwarzenegger and a few hundred of her closest friends.
But while the Twerk Queen certainly has no shortage of admirers, one fellow former Disney star will not be gettin' turnt up with Miley anytime soon.
During a recent radio interview, Demi Lovato opened up about her non-existent relationship with Ms. Cyrus when a fan called in to ask why they don't hang anymore:
"Um, yeah," Demi began awkwardly. "We're like...we're acquaintances. It's life and people change and I don't have anything in common with her anymore, and I wish her all the best."
In a sense, the news that Miley and Demi aren't on speaking terms isn't at all surprising.
Demi has denied that there's any bad blood between them, but Miley unfollowed Demi on Twitter back in March, following rumors of an ugly feud.
At the same time, however, the two were full-blown and BFFs at one point, and they navigated the troubled waters of teen stardom together, so many assumed they'd eventually patch things up.
Of course, Miley and Demi are following very different paths these days.
Demi checked into rehab in 2012 and has been a vocal proponent of the sober life ever since. By contrast, Miley's Instagram page is basically devoted to celebrating the singer's well-known love of weed and partying.
So maybe this really is just a case of two former friends just growing apart. Or maybe there's some beef between the former Disney divas that we'll just never find out about.
Katy Perry is not living a teenage dream on her current trip to Australia.
In fact, like a firework, the singer has unleashed an explosive rant against members of so-called "press" Down Under.
"Australian PRESS: You should be ashamed of your paparazzi & tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character. NO HUMANITY," Perry wrote.
She then went on to explain the origin of this negative assessment:
"I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over & over to let me have my space. Many other people stopped to try to help but the paps continued to laugh at me & hold their barrels up & shoot.
Perry, who rarely uses social media to do anything except show off her impressive boobs, wasn't finished, either.
"They told me to make a 'deal' with them. Give them a bathing suit shot and they would leave me be. This is PERVERTED & disgusting behavior that should NEVER be tolerated, especially by people who do NOT want this.
"I will NEVER make a deal with paparazzi and I will not befriend anyone who perpetuates this kind of behavior."
The singer is on her on Prismatic world tour and began performing in Australia on November 7.
Fortunately, Perry’s time Down Under wasn’t completely marred by this insensitive “journalists.”
She posted a photo online of herself standing and smiling on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
"I DID IT," she wrote on Instagram. "Finally, after all these years talkin bout it I done climbed your bridge tonight Sydney! Thanks @bridgeclimb."
Selena Gomez did not take home any hardware at the 2014 American Music Awards.
But the young artist did likely put on the most memorable performance at the annual event.
She took to the stage to sing her latest track, "The Heart Wants What It Wants," a single Selena has admitted was written about her tumultuous relationship with Justin Bieber.
As Gomez sang emotional lyrics ("Hand over heart, I'm praying, that I'm gonna make it out alive…”), a video played in the background of a concealed shadow of a male.
This guy was resting his palms against a clouded glass panel, seemingly depicting Bieber himself.
As the performance concluded, Selena’s eyes welled up with tears and she started to cry.
Cameras then cut to Taylor Swift, never a huge fan of Gomez dating Bieber, who also had tears in her eyes as she peered sympathetically at her close friend from the audience.
Emotional stuff all around.
Gomez recently admitted on Ryan Seacrest's radio program that Bieber was the subject of the single and also a fan of it.
"He thought it was beautiful," Selena told the famous host. "I think it was really hard. I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first [in the video].
"Honestly, music is an expression, and if you will be that voice for these girls, there are some people that feel this. This is universal."
Pop star Ariana Grande's alleged diva ways are the subject of another tabloid report after an old Nickelodeon contract of hers was reportedly obtained.
Ariana, who got her big break on the show Victorious, was a diva in training even back before most people knew her name, the new report claims.
Life & Style claims her contract spelled out that her dressing room must be superior to that of all the other stars on the show, except for the "marquee" stars.
Apparently, Victoria Justice was big enough to meet that standard. But the rest of the hacks on that show? Not so much.
In response to the frequent Ariana Grande diva rumors, the 21-year-old recently defended herself and implied that she's just a hard worker, stating:
"There’s a big difference between being determined and being a bitch."
Anybody buying that? Is she a victim of tabloid exaggerations and lies?
While her "Bang Bang" collaborator Jessie J defended Grande along similar lines, others such as E! host Giuliana Rancic say the rumors are true.
As a woman in the industry, you have to be tough to get ahead. We do understand this, but there's also a point in which that line can be clearly crossed.
Iggy Azalea is no stranger to feuds.
The Iggy-Snoop Dogg beef made headlines last month, with the Aussie raptress eventually "winning" by forcing an apology from the Doggfather.
Prior to that, Iggy feuded with Nicki Minaj, and while the First Ladies of Hip Hop have occasionally shown love to one another in public, sources say that situation is unlikely to ever be resolved.
Considering how man beefs she's been involved with, you may think that Iggy intentionally seeks out drama, when in reality, she seems to simply be a favorite target for A-list emcees.
Her latest public throwdown is no different, as Iggy finds herself in the position of responding to some shocking comments from a hip hop icon:
Eminem seems to be using controversy to promote his new mixtape, Shady XV. Last week, Em rapped about punching Lana Del Rey during a freestyle, and this week he's set his sights on Iggy-Ig.
A recently released track on Shady XV contains the following lyrics:
"So what's it gonna be? / Put that sh-t away, Iggy / You gonna blow a rape whistle on me?"
Eminem's supporters have pointed out that he's made a career out of targeting potentially offensive threats and insults toward other artists through his Slim Shady persona.
Many feel, however, that this time Em has simply gone too far, and his critics have pointed out that the sort of lyrics that may have gone unnoticed in 1999 are simply not acceptable in 2014 - particularly now that Mr. Mathers is 42 and has a daughter in college.
Iggy brought up the topic of Em's age (and the fact that he remains an influential Rap God to many young men) when she responded to his controversial verse on Twitter:
"I'm bored of old men threatening young women as entertainment trend," Iggy tweeted. "It's especially awkward because my 14 year old brother is the biggest Eminem fan and now the artist he admired says he wants to rape me. Nice!"
Of course, the grand hip hop tradition requires that artists settle their differences in song form, and the fact that I-G-G-Y has never written a response track (despite her many feuds) is seen by many as further evidence that Iggy doesn't write her own rhymes.
When the now-famous Kim Kardashian nude Paper magazine photos first hit the web, public opinion was decidedly split.
While the Sir Mix-A-Lots of the world found no cause for complaint, other, more reserved types stated their belief that Kim was setting a bad example for young girls, her own daughter included.
Glee star Naya Rivera slammed Kim online, commenting, "You're somebody's mother," on one of the pics.
While rumors that Kim wanted to pose nude before she gets pregnant again continue to circulate, until very recently, Mrs. Kardashian-West had not spoken out about the relationship between her roles as nude icon and married mom.
Yesterday, Kim was asked in an Australian radio interview how she would feel if her 1-year-old daughter, North West, decided to pose nude in 20 years. Her response is sure to piss off plenty of Kardashian kritics:
"I would support anything she wants to do," Kim said. "But I don't do anything to promote anyone else doing it - that's not even what I'm trying to do."
Kim went on to say that the pics made her feel "empowered," after she "gained 500 pounds and looked like a huge slob" when she was pregnant.
Beyonce's new single "Ring Off" from her upcoming platinum box set has leaked online, sparking the latest obligatory round of Jay Z divorce rumors.
Speculation that she and Jay are enduring marriage problems behind closed doors are as old as ... well, like six months ago, after the Solange elevator video.
The superstar couple didn't actually split, of course, but working through problems behind closed doors is a lot less fun for gossip lovers than marital woes.
So believe what you want when you hear the new track describing a person left picking up the pieces after a failed relationship ... possibly due to infidelity.
Oooooh. Let the overanalyzing begin, Internet.
"In the mirror you would stare / And say a prayer like, 'I wish he said I'm beautiful' / I wish it didn't hurt at all / I don't know how I got here," the lyrics read.
"I was once the one who had his heart."
"Until you had enough, then you took that ring off/You took that ring off/ So tired of the lies and trying and fighting and crying/ You took that finger."
Over the summer, sources reported constantly on the Beyonce and Jay Z divorce inevitability, citing his "wandering eye" and countless other issues.
The power duo has remained a united front ever since, however, with Jay presenting a tearful Beyonce with the Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs.
The two have gone on vacations, posted countless cute photos of daughter Blue Ivy to Tumblr and have made plenty of under the radar appearances.
In other words, they're living a normal life. Happily.
You may remember Antoine Dodson as the star of the famous viral video in which he encourages viewers to hide their wives and kids, because - in his words - "they're raping everybody out here!"
That was way back in 2010, and a lot's changed for Dodson in the years since. For one thing, he got married and had a kid, after declaring that he's "no longer into homosexuality" last year.
Additionally, Antoine is apparently training to become a boxer, and he knows just who he wants to square off against in his debut fight:
Yes, we all know there are plenty of reasons to punch Justin Bieber, but while the rest of us just dream of knocking the Biebs back to Canada, Dodson is actually issuing a public challenge.
Even though Bieber's been training with Floyd Mayweather, it seems unlikely that he'll take Antoine up on his offer to step into the ring.
Anyone who's seen the famous Orlando Bloom-Bieber fight video knows that Justin responds to physical confrontations by curling up into a ball and waiting for his bodyguards to intervene.
There's a reason you don't see many boxers taking that approach.
Then again, the only thing bigger than Bieber's bank account is his ego, so maybe he will put his money where his mouth is and fight Dodson. Then, hopefully, Antoine will put his fist where Bieber's mouth is. Run and tell that, homeboy!
You may not have known this, but Taylor Swift has been involved in a lot of high-profile relationships over the years.
Shocking, right? Anyway, one of Swift's most recent and memorable breakups was with One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles.
Swift and Styles only dated for about two months, which is a shame, because their hyphenated married names would've been awesome.
Despite the brief nature of their relationship, however, the split seems to have had a serious impact on Taylor.
Swift spoke about her breakup with Styles during a party she hosted for fans recently, and she's written several songs on the subject (her coping method of choice).
But despite the public airing of grievances, Styles and Swift have reportedly patched things up and are quickly becoming unlikely besties.
It all started during a recent One Direction press event, at which the topic of Taylor writing "Out of the Woods" about Harry came up.
"We write from personal experience," Harry said. "So it would be hypocritical to be like, 'Oh, you can't write about us.'"
Harry's defense of Taylor led to rumors that the two are on speaking terms again. Those reports have now been confirmed by a source who spoke with Us Weekly:
"They have become pals," says the insider. "Taylor has been bragging to her trainer and celeb friends that she and Harry are talking again."
In sad news for Swift-Style 'shippers, however, the source confirms that neither party has any interest in reconciliation. Or to put it another way, Taylor and Harry are never, ever, ever getting back together.
